Talk to your vet, and check with your airline. We flew our cat from Houston to San Francisco in the hold, since there was no human available to fly at that time. She needed a health certificate from the vet, and a proper pet carrier, and I seem to remember we gave her some kitty valium before the flight. She made it fine through a 4 hour flight, but was very happy to see us in California.

When we moved to Seattle, I brought her in the cabin, in a soft-sided, but approved, carrier that fit under the seat. Again she was gently drugged, so that she was conscious, but not throwing fits. She mewed softly through the two-hour flight, and I think only my seatmate even knew she was there, because I would periodically lean down to let the cat smell me. We had absorbent cloths in the bottom of the carrier, which was a good idea.

Our cat was a frail girl in her teens when she flew, and made it OK both times. It's a strain, but not as scary as it might seem.

Is there a way you can arrange to have a litterbox waiting at the far end? I think it will help your cat adjust to the new environment.

The vet is important for a health certificate, and getting proper dosage on any meds.
