Glad you had a good time in Quebec city. The weather there is a bit colder and more wind than Montreal. The "old Quebec" is large and well alive. The "old Montreal" is a lot smaller. Weather in the summer is hot and humid in july and august.
The F1 grand prix is a must even if don't attend any race. The 'atmosphere' is great and friendly (as usual) and the women.. :-)) Summer is really great in Quebec.
As for the language you will have no problem to be understood in Montreal. Also you have american newspaper and american tv if you want to feel at home.
