First, locate a professional cleaning or vacuum cleaning supplies store nearby. Something that sells hi-end vacuums, and has an arsenal of cleaning supplies.
Second, get the proper solution. Something with hydrogen peroxide as suggested would work, as would some stuff that is made for organic stains (food stains). Then get to work. Soak, scrub, repeat. If the carpet is anything stain resistant you should be ok.
The Little Bissel may not be 'manly enough' for the job :-). I had the 1st or 2nd generation Bissel that connects to the sink and was able to vacuum PAINT off carpet (long story :-)). If you can use a wet and dry to vacuum off the solution it would work best.
It will take quite a bit of effort to take the stain out. Keep trying. After you're done, if you have scrubbed enough, and depending on the carpet, you may need to 'shave' the fuzz off. I had this done by a pro and the carpet looked as good as new after a quart of paint fell on it :-)
