Re: Feb R&T endorses 15k full syn changes.... Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Feb R&T endorses 15k full syn changes...., Mike Lynch ![]() |
As I posted long time ago.
My sister in law almost drove her new X5 to the ground by following BMW recommendations of 15K intervals.
Maybe not so much for the oil going bad but that the engine consumes oil.
What many drivers forget (or are not taught by sales people) is to actually CHECK the oil now and then.
They ask the person when bying a car; when is the car due for oil change?
Every 10 or 15K miles (depending on car) is the answer they get and then they gladly hop into their new car for to come back 15K miles later for their first oil change and get scolded that the engine is 3 or 4 quart low on oil and maybe loose their warranty.
Extended oil changes are good for people that drives a lot in short time but that also stay on top of how much oil the engine consumes and what oil and filter to use.
For average Joe driver I think it is bad.
