I bought a CPO Saab and had to take it in for VERY minor repairs (license plate and headlamp switch bulb replacements, change the "chirp" settings, take a look at squeaking shocks) a couple weeks after buying it.
Granted I didn't take it to the dealer I bought it from as that dealer is much further away than my local dealer, but I don't think that had a bearing on my experience.
Despite making an appointment a week in advance and getting the car to the dealer when it opened at 7:30 a.m. they didn't have time to get to the car that day (said they were short-handed). They told me they'd have to keep the car another day and offered me a rental (Enterprise rent-a-car has a mini-location on-site). They told me that CPO includes a rental if you have to leave your car. The rental car was a choice between a Pontiac car and a GMC SUV.
But Enterprise made me leave a $250 deposit. I got this deposit back, but not nearly as fast as it was removed from my bank account! This was during the holiday season so money was tight anyway. What could they possibly want with $250? Was this some sort of collateral ensuring I'd bring back their car undamaged!?!?
I complained about everything (the fact they didn't get to the car for relatively minor repairs despite the fact I made an appointment a week in advance and that they wanted a deposit for the rental car. WHY?).
In return for my hassle the dealer agreed to waive the $42 fee they were going to charge me to hook up the Tech II device to change my "chirp" settings and later their customer service person called me to let me know they're giving me a free oil change. So it sounds like at least they care about their service and are making an effort to make their customers happy after the fact.
