The Brickyard 400 is in August, usually the first weekend in August. It is just as hot in August as it is in late May.
Honestly, I think the reason NASCAR fans seems to be nicer is because they don't have several weeks to get liquored up. I also think that the reason they are nicer is because (I suspect) their demographic is a bit more religious. NASCAR fans tend to be more "Go Team America! Yay rah!!!" And they bring the whole family to the race. So overall they're just more orderly. Just don't get into an argument over which is better: Ford or Chevy or Dodge. And don't get started on why Toyota is allowed to race in the Truck Series :-)
I think banking the turns might be difficult considering that the seats are already low enough - it would mean moving seats, I think. When I started going to the Indy 500 20 years ago (I'm 27 now, for perspective) we had the first row of seats in the 3rd turn and those seats were awful. All you saw was helmets whizzing by. 20 years later, after upgrading seats every year, we're STILL in the 3rd turn about halfway up the stand.
