I'm in importing industry. And customers always yell at us because they think they can get their cargo on the ETA date. That's estimated time of arrival for VESSEL. They still have to unload, get it ready for pick up and make sure every pieces are in place before releasing.
I don't know how euro delv. system works, but I assume you still have to clear the customs presuming you already prepaid the ocean freight. Did you also pay DDC? (do you drive your car off of the pier? or do they have to stage your car somewhere? if so DDC is from the vessel to that staging point)
Anyway, I would check with the dealership about customs clearance. (I think it have to be more than a year old for a car or personal goods to be duty free) Is it subject to the Custom's exam? Who prepared the export shipment paperwork? Was it consigned to you or someone else? If you, do you have OHB/L or was there no original issued?
Sorry if this gets too technical and confused you more... if so, just ignore me. (I think I can be more of the help if I know exacty how euro delv. system worked in logistic way.)
BTW, there is a terminal in Seattle that's all fenced in and within that fence, there are tons of Saabs, Volvos, and VWs sitting with white protective stickers on them. I'm thinking most of them are destined to many inland destinations/dealerships, but could be all for Seattle area dealerships. You don't know the temptation of cutting that fence and go do some car shopping :)
