You've gotten great advice so far. Projector Central is the best resource I've found so far. Their search function lets you look up just about any projector new or old and find detailed specifications, reviews, links to dealers and prices, etc. Besides LCD vs. DLP and the resolution, there are a few other key points you should look at. One is the throw distance. This is the distance between the front of the lens and the screen. If you have wide flexibility in projector placement (for instance you are ceiling mounting it and it can be anywhere along the length of a very long room), this may not be an issue. But if your room is really small, you need to make sure you use a projector that will project an image of the size you want while sitting a fairly short distance away from the screen. Projector Central has a built in calculator on their web site which for each projector will let you determine how far away from the screen it will need to be for a given size image. You also might want to consider lifespan of the bulb and it's replacement cost, both can vary widely.
Whatever you end up with I'm sure you'll love the giant picture. I have a Panasonic LCD projector and only have a 72" wide image (90" diagonal), and it's awesome. I only sit about 120" away from the screen though, so the viewing angle is appropriately theater-like.
