and we know everybody agrees on oil-change intervals for cars......
Your infrequent rides, was it ridden long enough to properly warm and burn off any moisture/gas?
One of the worst things you can do (and many do it) is in the Fall, change oil, start engine for a couple of minutes, then shut off for next 6 months.
As Dick said, one-year interval, assuming that the oil isn't exposed to severe service. For piece-of-your-mind, if you want to change, don't bother with filter. Actually, not sure what your annual mileage is (sounds almost non-existant), but you might consider annual oil changes (again, assuming non-severe duty service), but only change the filter every couple of years. I don't think that the bypass valve would fail with age, maybe the paper element would, I doubt it. You're not even letting the filter become effective. New filters are terribly ineffective, they need to get "plugged up" a little before they start filtering the small stuff.
We'll continue to argue about appropriate oil-change intervals, but IMHO, most people (not all) that change every 3,000 miles are wasting environmental resources and $'s. If they replace filter every 3000, they're also potentially harming their engine. At least they should alternate filter changes. My 1998 Prelude called for (with "normal" service) oil every 7,500 miles, filter every 15,000.
My best advice, ride more.
