Oh boy, talk about a charged subject! I am an avid gun enthusiast, hunter and lifetime member of the NRA. In my humble opinion, agreed with by the founding fathers and the constitution, gun ownership is a right that is protected from government control just like speech is. That said, just like you can't yell fire in a crowded theater and call it protected speech, you can't go wave a gun and rob a store either. I grew up in a house full of hunters, however I don't hunt anymore as I do not have a freezer to keep the meat in nor does my wife like game meat. However, I do like to shoot all types of guns, especially trap/skeet shoot. Right now, I just own one shotgun as I had a finacial disaster a few years ago and had to get rid of all of them to put food no the table. I still have my old Winchester pump shotgun and plan on buying my son a shotgun when old enough and teach him to shoot trap. My wife also likes to shoot and we used to do that all of the time. She prefers shooting 22's and can out shoot me with a pistol.

To me shooting is just like any other hobby, you get out of it what you put into it. The difference here is that you must be level headed all of the time and follow the strictest of safety rules.

As far and gun confiscation, absolutely not!!! Not any kind of gun, period. I do agree on the ban on automatics that was put into law in the 60's, however, I do not agree with the ban on military style rifles. They are the most accurate and therefore the best for shooting on the range and enjoying. I also believe there are plenty of laws on the books to help control gun crime, however no one wants to enforce those laws. There is much more to gun ownership/shooting/hunting than just killing a deer or hitting a target, just as there is more to skiing than sliding down a hill.

And yes, I do bug my representatives all of the time about gun rights as well as many other issues.
