Briggs & Stratton makes a very wide range of engine products. From ultra-cheap for mowers/tractors sold on a cost basis only, to Industrial quality where long life and reliability is worth a premium. Kohleer may have multiple choices also. Best to compare item to item specifications for the exact models of engine choices.
One final caveat. At this time of year, make certain you are not buying a 2004 tractor at 2005 prices. Some places will sell off their old stock at the new prices. I had this happen to me years ago when buying a Bolens mower in early Spring. My friend who bought the same model from the same dealer at the same price two weeks after I did got a slightly different mower. I didn't see his machine until half-way thru the summer, too late to complain much.
