Just an update for anyone that has to deal w Jennair for failures. synopsis: Three weeks ago this past Friday our Jennair DW (the Pro version, big $$$) had a meltdown when we ran it using the delay. My wife wakes me up around 0500 saying "something electrical is burning". Turns out that the BW had stuck on the heated dry cycle all night. Everything plastic in the tub was melted into a puddle on the bottom of the tub, including te lower rotating wash bar of the DW itself. Thankfully it had a stainless liner....
I worked w the regional rep for Jennair/Maytag directly courtesy of Home Depot where we had originally purchased the equipment (complete kitchen set in Pro series)
Today I picked up a brand new unit that is one grade up from the unit that ate itself for zero money out of pocket. And it's a better appearance match with the rest of the equipment.
To the companies' credit they were very cooperative; didn't require a service call to verify the failure or attempt to fix it. Not that I would have accepted a "repair", how do you repair a meltdown, and if it was repairable I wouldn't trust it.
Their attitude does raise a flag in my mind: were they so cooperative because this is a know issue? Nothing found as far as recalls, etc, so who knows.
An aside: if you go shopping for Jennair don't by from the chains like Home Depot, Lowes, etc. They no longer carry the "real" Jennair. The units the sell are rebadged Maytags that are built to the distributors spec and always of lower quality, it's the same thing that Walmart does with items such as Dewalt, Ryobi, and the other power tools they sell. They tell the manufacturer to build a unit cheaply, but put the normal coverings and labels on it. The device looks the same as what you would find at a real distributer but is of much lower quality, hence the "discounted" price.
