ot> vet/pet owner type questions....

i took my pug in for a check up this week and was talked into getting the wellness bloodwork done (seems like a small $ for the peace of mind) the vet called back and said that everything was ok, but that the kd (or kidney) values were slightly elevated. she said it could just be from dehydration, but could also be the beginnings to kidney problems. she said the only way to be for sure is to have a urinalysis. my dog is only 5 years old and i wonder if this is overkill? i guess for continued peace of mind i have to have it checked anyway.
i've always wondered if doctors/vets sometimes charge for more services than are actually needed? $48 seems like a lot to look at urine....
