We have our almost 2-year old in a Britax Roundabout. The quality of the Britax is tough (or impossible) to match. The straps don't twist (as is common on Cosco/Safety 1st/Eddie Bauer seats) and adjustments and releases work very smoothly. The Britax is constructed using EPS foam (also used in bicycle helmets) to disapate force in case of a crash. On added benefit is that the bottom is smooth with radiused edges so they do not dig in and mar the car's seat surface. The Roundabout is good for up to 40lbs and there is a newer Britax called the Marathon that goes to 60lbs or so. I have two kids, have had 4 seats and previously worked for a company in the juvenile products industry. You really get what you pay for and the Britax is worth considering.
