Actually my parents bought it for me...I kinda had inherited my dad's old S-class Benz that was ridiculous for a teenager to drive around in.
I looked at tons of cars. When the various dealers realized they had zero chance of making a sale without letting me test drive the car, most of them relented. One saleslady, though, went so far as telling me no one under 21 could test drive cars, but she would gladly let me sit in it. After I sat in it and screwed around a bit, she had the nerve to ask me whether she should start drawing up the papers...I laughed in her face and walked out.
Don't forget too, that a lot of places don't have the salesperson come with you, so have someone else drive out of the lot, then switch drivers.
