Steve, unless you've got a drive farm in some non-commerical use, you'll never need what Cat6 gives you over cat5e. The quality of the cable, the install, the length of the run all have as much to do with your speed at anything else.

That said, were it a brand new install, yeah I'd spend a little more for the cat6 as a way of trying to future proof things as much as possible.

And your broadband connection, cable or dsl, is dependent on so many things BEFORE the cat wire running into your boxes that it could be like putting new spark plug wires on a motor with a blown gasket.
