Posted last week about my Viggen's cabin fan failure, replaced the fan speed controller per Dean's advice and fan works again! Just in time for another steamy day. $86 and two hours of work. Beautiful.
Also have to complement SAAB on a high quality design under the dash to prevent noise and squeaks; logical to take apart and put together again.
One trick to the deconstruction, the Jones plug for the fan speed controller passes through a plastic tower mount that precludes accessing the retaining tabs on the female end of the plug, its behind the mount. The mount pulls off of the heaterbox/condenser unit and then you can pull the plug apart. A better design would have the end of the plug on the other side of the mount, but its not too bad. Also, since the battery was disconnected, the ACC has to self diagnose and return to its fault codes. I was pleased when the fan worked but then it went silent until I read the manual and realized an ACC self test takes half a minute.
Thanks again, Dean. Another victory for shared knowledge on the board. I nominate Dean for the next Share your Knowledge contest!
