When I was a little kid being chaufered/dragged around by parents, I'd see how many garage doors our remote would work on while on road trips.
For a regular home in a safe neighborhood with no bored engineer wannabees nearby there's probably not much of a risk - right now. It's just the total lack of security traded for ease of use that I don't like.
There are 16 house codes, and 16 device codes. Everything in one house or system is on the same house code. Pretty easy to figure out. There are upto 16 devices on each. Thus there are 256 combinations total. Once you figure out the house code, you have a 1/16 chance of guessing what you are controlling. Sit back at night and see what lights up while trying to control each channel. 4 seconds per channel, trying every combination, you can have the whole house figured out in 17 minutes worst case.
