Re: Cool Tech - Sequil Systems Cell Phone Booster Posted by Bill Homer [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Cool Tech - Sequil Systems Cell Phone Booster, Scott Paterson ![]() ![]() |
I have been looking for a product like this for my Verizon service, which is fairly worthless in most houses in my neighborhood; they claim that they are looking for a new cell site location - sure. After checking the Sequil product out on their website, unfortunately I found the following caveat:
"The YX500-PCS DOES NOT benefit iDEN, Nextel, or Cellular 800 MHz services. A Separate product for 800 MHz will be available in November 2005."
Verizon and Cingular use the 800 MHz band in most (but not all) of their service areas, Nextel uses the 800 MHz band exclusively. Fortunately for you, T-Mobile, Sprint and some others use the 1900 MHz band, which this product currently addresses. Many of the other carriers such as US Cellular and Alltel use a patchwork of both bands. I guess I have some time to think how much I want their upcoming 800 MHz product for my house.
In any case, don't count on it helping out your wife's Cingular service unless they use 1900 MHz in your service area. Perhaps their service is getting more reliable?
