I sort of looked at the link I posted and had a comment on their mention of the special rsync version. Assuming you even have to worry about Mac resouce forks the part about resouce forks not being correctly backed up with the default version really should not be an issue as long as you backup whole directory trees or whole disk. This should ensure all files get backed up including the forks I'd think. I am assuing it is only issue if trying to pick and choose individual files by name (assuming you have anything with a resource fork in the first place).
