I must say I haven't looked at the competitive position there,
but certainly GM has come up with an exceptional engine from
Opel which you see across the range of GM producte; the 2.5,
which appears on the Ward's list (10 best engines - '05)
along with Saab's new aluminum V6.
As well, I've been reading VW has been taking an editorial
drubbing at the exec level for failng to come up with anything
new for some time. Beetle sales tailed off quickly after a
promising start. VW is teaming up with Daimler-Chrysler on
a new mini-van to try to re-ignite what they had in the 60's,
I suppose. Chrysler has always had an edge in minivans and I
think maintains that edge, so far as I know.
