The fact that you already paid the bill containing the charge should not affect anything. In fact, I believe you can dispute a charge up to 6 months after the fact. But, call them right away, sooner the better.
This is one area in which the consumer really does have the upper hand. As part of their agreement with their credit card processor, the merchant agrees to allow the credit card companies to arbitrate disputes. If they have frequent "chargebacks"/other consumer complaints, they face getting charged higher merchant fees and/or being dropped. The credit card company, on the other hand, wants to keep the consumer happy, and doesn't really care whether the merchant has to give the money back or not - it's not coming out of their pocket.
I think that you will find that if anyone is able to get a response from these people, it will be the credit card company.
