Studded tires aren't even needed here in the Eastern side of the state. Unless you live out of town, there is no need for studded tires. A set of snow tires, moderate driving skill, and patients is all that’s really needed. Can't tell you how many idiots I see driving around on studded tires here in Spokane.
In Seattle I think a good set of all-seasons would do you fine 99% of the time.
