or maybe 5 years ago. There are too many gadgety things that can go wrong and will continue to go south as cars age. And you're right, the cars of today will NOT be project cars 15 years from now.
When I look at my '96 9000 (and soon to come '02 or '03 9-5 wagon), I'm yet to see anything on other makes that is appealing and is more than bells, whistles and fluff. Plus I don't care about having the latest and "greatest."
The car starts and runs reliably. It handles well, goes fast, is hugely comfortable and safe, gets decent mileage and I (and my indy) can fix stuff without a degree in electrical engineering.
You're not being a curmudgeon... or maybe we both are!
