That's basically the idea. As I stated in another post I finally went to a printer server because I turned off the "big" computer when not home to save electrons and thereby $$$'s. Then the wife would come home, side on the couch with her Toshiba Tecra 8000 Win98SE and try to print. Tech support (me) would get a call... and I ask her to turn the "big" computer back on... So I got a PS. At the time I only had a parallel printer (HP6122 - does duplex printing - really cool) so I needed a PS with that interface. I got an intel and it worked ok, until I introduced XP pro on another system. No way to play... So I researched and decided upon the D-Link 300 because it does two parallel ports *and* one USB port. Knew I would get another printer and this way can share both across my home network. Did get another printer, HP all in one with a copy/scanner funciton. I use the copy function.

So, my home network has an 8port linksys rounter/switch. a D-link cable modem, a Linksys 802.11b WAP with the +6db antennas for my neighboor across the street and hook into my network with his 802.11b bridge, then my printers are attached to the D-Link PS, my "big" computer is a P4 3ghz running W2K pro and is hard wired, my son is running XPpro P4 2.8ghx hardwired, then we have two Dell computers( one to replace wifes Toshiba, one for me!) with 802.11a/g internal (I also have a linksys 4 port wireless router/switch with the router dhcp turn off and use as an 802.11a/b wap) and I have two "test" computers hardwired as well. Then on occasion I run LapLink Gold to my dad's system via cox cable to tech support him. but that's another story.
