I bought my Saab (9000 Aero) because:
1) It's as fast as nearly every car out there
2) But almost nobody would guess it
3) I can put two fully assembled bikes inside it
4) It's safe (probably the safest $7000 car I could buy)
5) Gas mileage is as good as most compact cars, but see #1!
6) Things like heated power seats (especially Aero seats!)
7) 5 speed manual transmission
8) There isn't another one just like it on every block
I will buy another Saab for the same reasons.
I just hope GM will allow Saab to remain unique in their design and engineering. Those are the things that will keep Saab a valid alternative (not jsut another copy-cat) to the other Euro brands.
Saab had a tag line years ago that said, "The most intelligent car ever built." Back then, I believed it. I'd like to see it become/remain the case.
Example: The new hybrid. What better way to nail a few birds with one stone than offer an AWD version in each of their current models, improve performance, and improve mileage. I'm curious and hopeful to see what comes of the technology. An AWD car with better fuel economy than its FWD twin? Are you serious? Audi and Subaru will be green with envy. Years ago I thought about what it would take to mount motors on my rear axle to acheive the very same thing... then I thought better of it.
If anyone is reading this:
Build the hybrid drive-train in Flex-fuel (E0-E85) and E100 (Or maybe uber-flex-fuel (E0-E100 compatable).
Okay, I'll put the soap box away... That got longer than I though it would.
