That looks like a nice table... Posted by turrbo [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: WOT: Pool Table help, cryptical, Sun, 7 May 2006 08:05:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I don't think for an amateur player that a good name versus a no name really makes a difference. I have a name brand one (the name is escaping me and I'm too lazy to go downstairs to look at it!) and its great but I've played a lot on my friend's no name one and I really don't see much of a difference. I think the only noticeably difference is in the rails and how they bounce.
Like Michael said, installation really makes all the difference. The guy that came and installed mine took about almost half a day...this was a professional, not some Namco guy. It takes a lot of work to get the surface of the slate completely smooth and then apply the felt properly.
Also, whichever one you get, make sure it has leather pockets! I can't tell you how annoying the sound of a cue ball hitting a plastic pocket is!! (I think that may be another difference of a non-name brand versus a name brand.)
