final cut is what the professionals use if on a mac
adobe premier is what the professionals use on a pc
after effects allow you to creat special effects(anything you can imagine can be made)
along the imovie program style for pc I would look at pinnacle software which is pretty good and easy to use, there are three version to choose from starting at $75 and going to $425
you can use window movie maker, it works, pretty limited though and is already on pcs with windows xp
Intervideo windvd creator is fair, simple, does more than windows movie maker, would crash occasoinaly when I used it and around $50
go a google search for video editing programs and you will find many more to select from, most can be used free for 30 days which will allow you do decided if the program does everything you want.
