What are the in-service dates? Posted by Ari [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Good price for this wagon?, Allen in N.O., Thu, 25 May 2006 20:20:46 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The price depends on your location. Here in Saab country (Connecticut), those would be typical costs for cars in very good condition.
A real differentiator is the In Service Date. The Saab Certified warranty is for 6 years after the in-service date or 100K miles, whichever comes first. But a '02 could have been in service August 2001, or was a leftover that didn't sell until late 2002 or even 2003.
If you drive a lot of miles a year, you'll probably hit the 100K miles first, so the in-service date isn't as important. If you don't drive a lot of miles a year, it's time, not mileage. So ask the in-service date of the cars. The one with the later date will have more time on the warranty.
Beyond that, it all boils down to condition and servicing. If you know the service history and it was well maintained, that is a biggie for me. Otherwise, you're relying on the warranty. It's a good warranty. But if the car looks beat, it probably was. Look for a nice one. And check that date.
