This cracks me up, "stock tires on a rental car, going faster than what the car was capable of".
Well if that isn't a line of BS. First off they do come with V rated tires, so there goes that "expert" analysis.
Pretty soon I'll be able to rent a 2007 Shelby GT500 from Hertz (if they go through with their current plans), and that car can do over 150MPH. Just because it's a rental doesn't mean that it comes with no-name bannana tires, right? Christ I can go rent a new Z06 a few towns away from me...doesn't that mean that they put cheap tires on the car?
Frankly I'm pretty impressed that the car could go that fast. However, just because he was driving that fast doesn't mean that he was doing so in a reckless manner. He could have been completely in control of the car at that speed. The police jumping to conclusions doesn't add anything to the mix.
I just don't understand why the Police think they are experts on everything, especially when it comes to cars. I've heard story after story of them spewing their "expertise" and "knowledge" about what is safe and unsafe driving behaivor, as well as what certain cars can and can't do. "I'm a cop, and an expert on all things, so hear me roar".
Okay, I've vented....I feel better know (lol).
