information tham my internet searches turned up. I did find comments that I should use a special Zeolite cleansing agent in the Fall to rid the media of any ammonia it accumulates during use. But no comments, even on pool users blog sites, connecting Zeolite to water cloudiness. The blogs did identify another possible cause which is too much Cyanuric Acid, i.e. a stabilizing agent which prevents sunlight from prematurely breaking down the chlorine molecules. The chlorine compound I have used for the past four years contains this stabilizer. It has reduced my chlorine usage by 75% or more but maybe it has initiated another problem.
My wife was a chemistry/material science major in college and she used to keep the pool in check when our kids were little. Now that it is just the two of us at home the water chemistry duties have fallen on me - and chemistry was not my best subject!
