After having a "SOFT TOP FAILURE" notice, I was told by my local dealer in Washington DC area that it most likely was the sensor chip - probably the 5th bow switch as described in other messages as the top would only open about 2 feet. That very same night my top was slashed. Never did I realize that the "First Tier Service" State Farm repair shop would deliver the car with a brand new top and liner without fixing or even letting me know that the original problem wasn't fixed. Now it's at the Saab dealership with 2 bad hydraulic units in addition to the sensor switch - I'm quoted $1700 - I'm going to see it for myself tomorrow as the insurance company refused this part.
Questions - would the upholsterer and convertible top shop be able to fit the new top on without putting it up and down? And could forcing it ruin the hydraulic units? Anyone know of a reputable alternative place to get the hydraulics done at a more reasonable price in suburban Maryland?
Thanks,
Judy
