it will be deservedly packed with tourists in the summer. A cheaper and more accessable location might be in the heart of Motown, or around Ann Arbor, which is an easy commute. Even Chicago and Cleveland can be there before 10am, unless you hit the Chicago traffic....
Traverse City, and many other points north in Michigan are truly worth visiting, and would be a very memorable location. I'm sure the committies are sorting all of that out now. So if they don't go up north, and you don't get this way often, consider an extra week or two to explore some of the finest vacation areas in the US.
Personally, I'm hoping they pick Ann Arbor! Even if I don't commute, the hotels are cheaper! Great restaurants and roads in the area too. And a world class indy shop-K&N- 3 great guys that only work on Saab.
