Whitney in the snow is really great too! I was stationed in NWC China Lake so did alot of running around in that area. Kennedy Meadows, going to Grumpy Bear for a bite to eat, writing this makes me want to leave a day early for the 24hoursoflemons.com and do some sight seeing.
One year I was hiking around with my girlfriend, she was wearing a bright red parka. Mine was a neutral color. We decided to take some self portraits upon finding a short fence post, green trees, blue skies, the scenes were just too good to pass up...
So, long before consumer digital, I was shooting an Olympus OM-1 with an F3.4 lense. Chrome, 25ASA slides. Using the timer, us side by side facing the camera. Knowing people are sometimes goofy and don't understand slides, I also took one facing away from the camera too. So when showing the slides, and the colors really jump out at you, in a simple viewer, people invariably wanted to turn the slide around to see the view "from the other side". Ready for that, and my trap well set, I say'd say "oh no, this is that view", and slip the 2nd shot in, but of course they want to see the other side of that one too... ha ha ha!
You know how some frame portrait or landscape with a camera?
Well... went with the wife to visit some of her relatives, and got into a video show of yet other relatives. Poor girl running the camcorder had tried to do the portrait framing thing with the camcorder... it was pretty funny to see everyone in the room leaning over to follow the video, recorded sideways!
