ESP, TCS, etc only help you get going. They don't help you stop. I talked to the service rep the other day about Dunlop snows, and he thought they were terrible. The extra cost of better snows is hard to justify until you have an accident, then you'll wish you did.
FWIW, I think the Blizzaks are better than the Nokian RSi, and they're much cheaper. The RSi is supposed to be Nokian's best. I've used Hakkas as well, and I still like the Blizzaks better. I've also used Michelin Arctic Alpin snows, and they were almost as good as the Blizzaks, but much louder.
