Does anyone know if that funny antenna mounted on the roof of my '01 9-5 has a real purpose? I backed out of my garage yesterday, not realizing that the door wasn't open all the way until it came bouncing across my hood. Funny thing is the radio, AM and FM, still seems to work OK. Of course the connecting wires, 2 small dia.shielded cables were pulled out of it and I could see some elecronic components inside. A new one lists for about $200.! Is it really needed? If it's just for Onstar, which I don't subscribe to, where is the radio antenna located?
