Yes - All over but Jay Spenchian Says Something Learned Posted by Scott Paterson [Email] (#13) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Scott Paterson) on Thu, 18 Jan 2007 18:02:29 In Reply to: old news? 9-2X is gone?, Sally 7a, Thu, 18 Jan 2007 13:05:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
It was only meant to be a few years model run anyway, but I believe that GM sold its small Fuji stake and with that went its agreement to make anymore 9-2X's. I believe that every 9-2X every produced was sold although keep in mind the 9-2X production runs were pretty small (8,000 a year? At least that's true for the first year which sold out by June).
I asked Jay Spenchian at the 2006 Saab Owners' Convention what Saab learned by producing and selling and eventually canning the 9-2X project and, as memory serves, he said something to following effect:
Saab needs a smaller car. Saab recognizes that there is a younger crowd out there that has money to spend in the low $20,000's. Demand was strong for the type of car the 9-2X represented. AWD demand was strong. He also mentioned a bit about a smaller car taking more design cues from the AeroX.
All good stuff as far as I was concerned.
