the hard drive on my work laptop crashed yesterday. IT was able to recover the backed up files and it looked like the music files were included. i reloaded iTunes and it pulled up all the files. it even shows the # of songs, # of days, and size of the music library at the bottom of the screen. however, when i go to play a song, a message pops up and says "The song xxxxxxx could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" i select "yes" and it lets me browse the "my music" file. only thing is, i can't seem to find any of the songs listed there. i'm not sure why the songs are coming up as listed in the library, but are not playable? some how iTunes seems to realize the music should be there?
i have the music on my ipod, and i've seen previous postings about Copypod with success. i just want to make sure there is nothing simple i can do with iTunes to get it linked back up.
also, i have not connected the ipod to the PC yet as I am fearful of losing the music and having to start all over. maybe if the ipod is connected and i select "yes" to locate, it will let me select the ipod?
any thoughts or suggestions?
thanks for the help!
