I have an '06 9-3 Aero SC that I likely wouldn't trade for the equiv. R wagon (too big for me). But the sedan choice is an interesting notion. It is an '04 and you have lots of warranty time in the Aero, altho perhaps the Volvo is certified. There is the AWD factor, but I believe they come with summer tires (no go in the winter) if that makes any difference to you (and AWD and more HP means more time at the gas pump even tho the Aero doesn't score big on fuel efficiency). Volvo seats are more comfortable. Handling definitely edges towards the Aero but it just seems that the Volvo is a bit more substantial overall. Seems like a larger car than the 9-3 even tho interior room is about the same.
I wonder why, tho, this particular R has so few miles over three years.
I too defected from Saab between by 9-5 Aero wagon and my present ride...went BMW (found a low mileage 325iT), but felt lost a bit in the sea of BMWs and had to come back. You sound like a Saab loyalist...it's hard to shake that.
