...This is not a better safe than sorry. Molds are common, and people don't realize just how dangerous they are. Just look at how they get rid of mold in LA after Katrina. They dress in head to toe space suits to prevent contact with the stuff. They have masks, and some have compressed air supplies. Why would OSHA require that if mold was not super dangerous.

A common mold infects peanuts. It makes Aflatoxin, a seriously mutagenic agent. I know some pediatricians who won't let their kids eat peanut butter more than once a month because it is so powerful and so common and such a small dose is necessary to be dangerous. (I think they are a little overboard, but this is an example of a dangerous mold that is ubiquitous).

Most molds are bad. They make poisons intentionally to keep bacteria away. They cannot survive in an area where bacteria grow and make acid. Those same mold poisons can affect us. Those same poisons also can help us like penicillin.

This is all why you need a professional to come, take samples, and help you to decide what needs to be done. The professionals will work with you. They may tell you not to worry at all.

Like I said, many molds are dangerous. This is not a better safe than sorry concern, but you are a grown boy and you decide given this information. You can also search the Internet, call your local University, and even call poison control.

Whatever you do, I wish you the best.
