Experience with the Jacksonville to Gainesville route

From Jacksonville you can take I-10 West, then get on 301 South headed to Gainesville. This route will take you through the towns of: Lawtey, Starke, and Waldo. All are major speed traps, always watch your speed!

You will spot police cruisers from these small towns parked behind billboards (just like the old cartoons,) and speed limits suddenly dropping from 65 to 40 without reason, just to pump outsider dollars into local coffers.

The road will change from 301 to 24 in Waldo, then change again to 331 in Gainesville, before linking to I-75.

My son just completed Law School at UF so I have driven this route a few times in the past three years after flying into JAX.
