It is very difficult to accurately control grades and slopes when placing asphalt. Shallow depressions which hold water, called bird baths, can be a problem if your drive is nearly flat.
I recommend placing a conrete pad immediately in front of your garage which will be gently sloped to drain all rain water away from the garage doors. Similarly, I would extend this concrete to cover the entire area where cars are routinely parked. Asphalt is called flexible pavement for a good reason. Cars always parked in the same spots will cause wheel divots, and those bird baths will turn to miniature ice rinks in the winter - not good for walking to your car.
Use asphalt for the majority of the drive, but use concrete for the heavier loading areas and those places where proper drainage is critical.
