Is there a turning point for a car being a liability? If I plan on spending $100 per month to keep an old car on the road, when does the value vs. repair turn to the minus? or have I passed that long ago? Keeping in mind..no car payments, no big insurance fees. ($12 per month) I have invested about $5K into an old 91 900. I originally bought it as a parts car, but then decided to fix it up. In the process my indy found the previous owner had used a VW headlight relay, and fried the wiring harness. I am now planning on passing this car off to my daughter. She might get another year or 2 out of it, depending on if she takes care of it.
It has new brakes, passes smog, new tires, new ball joints, new axles, new heater fan etc. etc. I am confident in my indies abilities, and I think the car has intrinsic value, but some people are telling me otherwise...
Comments? Ideas? Thanks Jim
236K 900S goes to the daughter next week when she comes home from her mission.
P. S. Car is NOT for sale, Don't ask ...
