Bought a refurb DV7000 3 years ago. Hard drive went a year ago, and I needed to replace (only 70 bucks, but hours of work).

Now, the LCD light stopped. I called my tech buddy, and I am told it was the LF inverter. I don't know what the L stands for, but I have several ideas as to what the F stands for.

Over $100 at HP, $70 new on Ebayy. Fortunately, I decided to look for used components, and found one w/ a 30 day warranty fror $21 including shipping.

I had to rip apart the laptop after searching HP website for instructions on disassembly. At least I can DIY and save technician costs.

So now I am reduced to using my kids computer in the living room. (My wife and I don't use each others' computers, just like we would never search through each others' wallets.

Best part is the home page on my sons' puter is about learning the ABC's. As most people can tell from my prior posts, this may be a good thing if it helps w/ my spelling.
