....not just exercise. Excessive gorging is nearly impossible to exercise away.
Lots of chocolate, alcohol, an ice cream thick shake, cake, pie, large quantities of ice cream...or perhaps you're starting with a 12-16 oz steak. Any of these excesses add up to 500-1,000 extra calories at a clip. It takes a huge amount of exercise to offset this kind of excess.
On the other hand....a life style change in your diet will do it easily and permanently. Compliment this with a regime of exercise and the benefits will start to add up...lower blood pressure, reduced cholesterol levels, and a possible reduction in a propensity to diabetes.
Good health usually requires a balance of weight management (eating lifestyle) and exercise. For most people this does work fairly well.
In case you wondered....yes, I am a convert. It has worked very well for me.
