I think of what a long haul trucker I traveled with for a few days said about chrome, noting the fancy chrome wheels, grille and stacks on a big Kenworth we were parked next to: "That chrome looks nice but it won't make my truck haul any better or make me more money." So it's whatever floats your boat. I don't like chrome either, but that's me. Not everyone has to agree.
I had my 9K at SCD and it's a stock '96 CSE, except I have '93 Aero wheels. It happened to be on the lawn and looked merely OK, but I didn't expect to get any votes. It's just a reasonably clean car. I don't have the time--or inclination--to keep it pristine.
The point of SCD or SOC to me is more an opportunity to talk to other Saab guys, feed the Saab habit a bit, and see some nice cars. Or just interesting ones, like the battered 96 that has Eric Carlson's autograph on the roof or the race-prepped C900.
