Ian: Checking for clogged radiator: The only way that I can think of is to drain the whole system, disconnect/plug one end of the radiator and hook up a compressed air hose, listen for air. Is there an easier way?
Chaz: What do you mean by choking the system with air or rust? Perhaps there is rust in this radiator, and it may have been triggered by the other work done, but I have my doubts as all the other radiators in the house seem to give off lots of heat - it's a fairly sealed system - but anything is possible. The only control unique to this radiator is the one that I disassembled and verified the operation of.
I would just as soon skip the operation of one radiator, but this one is pretty central to the house and provides a major part of the heat in the core.
