I grew up near Oak Brook in Hinsdale. I like the area. Great golf, parks, forest preserves, and plenty of shopping nearby. There is also plenty of housing nearby so your commute won't be atrocious. If your wife finds a job in the city, there are 2 train lines nearby. Housing is definitely more expensive but it's also a potential for building equity unlike anything you'd have in Toledo.

Now, ask yourself where you see yourself in 5 years, 10 years. What are your goals? Do you like the company you work for? Do you trust them enough to relocate your family?

Go visit, see what you think before you make up your mind. Talk to the people you'd be working with.
