Right after I posted the question I searched myself and found a good deal depot to depot from DAS for $581 and immediately booked it. The rest of the crop varies from $800 to $1,700. One reason the price is low is the fact you drop it off at their truck depot and pick up at the depot on the east coast, 20 miles from our town. But that's fine. Then for a silly restriction that they do not allow anything in the cabin my son cannot accept I cancelled the reservation. Because my son has loads of stuuf he wanted to put in the car instead of shipping home. When we shipped the car to him this summer the carrier has no such restriction.

So I went back shopping again. Located the same carrier who did it this summer. Their cost is $800. So I am sheepishly going back to DAS. But I asked my son to do it in San Diego now. It is his car. And after all I am still out of the country.
