Yes. I have several HD sets of various sizes and they all do the SD display pretty well, but I use DirecTV. I think it will vary depending on the source. I used to have Comcast, and it was OK with that, too, but the sat box image looks better to me. Basically, just use the correct setting on the set to NOT do the stretch or zoom mode. Depending on the brand, they have different names for the modes, but if you use "normal" or "standard" or something like that, it should display the normal, non-stretched picture. Also, depending on the source, you can set the source to do a "native" display. I forget what this was on the Comcast box, maybe there wasn't even an option, but there is with the sat box. I think the sales people in the stores use the "zoom" mode so that you can see that the whole screen looks fantastic! even when the image doesn't.
